Glad to announce the release of Stellarium 25.1 for all platforms. This is our first release in 2025 with exciting features and many
bug fixes.

The major changes of this version:

• Switching to using Gaia DR3 catalog (extra catalogues with more than 220 milliones stars)
• Full 6D astrometry (2D sky positions, 2D proper motion, parallax, radial velocity) compute for most bright stars (V<10.5)
• Modelling movement for 15 couples of binary stars
• New powerful data format for sky cultures
• Many improvements in Core
• Improvements in Telescope Control plugin
• Updates in sky cultures (include new one)
• Incorporated whole GCVS 5.1 catalog
• New tool in AstroCalc dialog

Is the documentation updated to the current version? Some pages seem to point to broken links (for example in plugins page: there are some unavailable links (1, 2) to the sourceforge and the old wiki).

Oops... thanks for notification - this part of documentation partially outdated.

Had trouble with v.25.1 appimage: it would not start on Linux Mint Debian Edition 6 (Debian 12). No problems with v.24.4. Tried to start with the terminal and got an error about a missing lib. Installed "libttb12" and that solved the problem. Stellarium now works as advertised. The terminal called it a "shared library".

Several constellation names are wrong in the German version. Here is a list of found errors (format: actual name/correct name):

Held/Perseus
Seated Queen/Kassiopeia
Chained Maiden/Andromeda
Geflügeltes Pferd/Pegasus
Ziegenfisch/Steinbock
Peacock/Pfau
Goldfisch/Schwertfisch

Is there a way to change the names myself?

The constellation name "Schlange" is placed inside the borders of the constellation Herkules.

What you see as primary name is the secondary name. Naming display settings will be extended in 25.2.

'm not sure where the problem lies, but after downloading version 25.1, I couldn't open it at all and couldn't access it. The previous old version cannot be retrieved, I need help

I am having the same issue with 25.1 on windows 11. No matter what I do, it will simply disappear on after the splash screen.
