Ignoring text value (i.e. colons in title)

I would like to request a feature for it to ignore a certain value as opposed to replacing it with another, For example, instead of a colon (:), it uses a dash (-). I would like to have the option to have it just skip the colon entirely and not add another character or a space or anything.
