Get encoder action

Can i somehow catch the encoder action (including the encoder switch) similar to a keyboard extension?

I would need to use the encoder when taking over the display with

renderer.takeOverDisplay(myDisplayCallback);

class MyEncoderListener : public EncoderListener {
public:
	void encoderHasChanged(int newValue) override {
		// do some shizzle			
		EncoderListener::encoderHasChanged(newValue);
	}
} myEncListener;
