Hi! I’m working on an open-source project called WatchSync, a Nextcloud application plus an Android companion app that acts as a privacy-friendly Trakt.tv-style watch history tracker.
It allows people to synchronize their progress and libraries from multiple sources (Udemy, Jellyfin, YouTube/NewPipe/Freetube, anime trackers, etc.) into one private database in their own cloud.
I’m opening this issue because I’d like to understand if there is any recommended or “official” way for external apps to:
Import NewPipe/Freetube subscriptions, playlists, likes or history
Export these items using a stable format
Sync changes (e.g., new subscriptions, removed subscriptions, new videos, watched videos)
Right now, WatchSync can read NewPipe’s local export file, but I would like to explore whether there is a better or more future-proof integration — maybe through a documented format or a consistent data structure that external apps can rely on.
Thanks in advance, and thank you for maintaining such an important privacy-respecting project!
