PHP project account on X is no longer being updated

Hi folks.

First, I know that "The PHP Foundation" is not the same as "the PHP project" 🙏 but I'm unsure who to contact about this. Maybe you can help or point me in the right direction? Thank you!

Issue: the PHP project no longer posts updates on the X social network. The last post on https://x.com/official_php was on June 4, 2024.

Despite this, X is still being promoted on the PHP GitHub repository:

These are the number of PHP followers per network:

4.2K on Mastodon (https://fosstodon.org/@php)
0 on BlueSky (no official profile found)
110.7K on X (https://x.com/official_php)

So, 96.34% of PHP followers are on X.

If this is a technical issue, is there anything we can do to help resolve it and make posts appear on X again?

If this is a non-technical issue, could you please clarify who made the decision to stop posting on X?

Hi, it's not a technical issue, AFAIK, the posting was suspended due to X policy.

It's not a technical issue.

And we should not be promoting Twitter on PHP's GitHub profile — I've added the BlueSky and Mastodon links.

There is a (not used yet) Bluesky profile on https://bsky.app/profile/official-php.bsky.social — we need to start posting to that like we do with toot-together for Mastodon.

I see. Perhaps The PHP Foundation could help us here? The Foundation might take on the responsibility of publishing updates on X.

Something simple, like a bot/script to automatically publish Mastodon/BlueSky messages on X would be enough.

For me, this is not a technical issue that can be solved with a technical solution. For me, it is about not wanting to support such platforms anymore.

Despite my personal opinion on Twitter/X and its owner, I think that completely ignore the PHP community members on this platform is harmful for this very community.

Indicating that PHP (and/or PHP Foundation) will not post primarily on Twitter/X, but on BlueSky or Mastodon and provide cross-post on Twitter/X could be a first signal to the community that PHP does not endorse Twitter/X political directions.

A more-or-less long period of cross-posting is mandatory to provide information to the community no matter the personal choices of individuals. Too soon to completely ignore Twitter/X users I guess, as many users have lists and do there daily tech reading on this platform.

Personal or political opinions of the platforms being abandoned or selected for social media communications aside, the lack of any communication is even more frustrating. Some links have been silently changed on the GitHub profile, yet there remains no communication whatsoever outside of the Mastodon ecosystem about the state of PHP's social media. Many of the PHP folks made sure to vocally denounce their prior social media before moving to Mastodon, yet the lack of communication or the deliberate decision not to cross-post across platforms just makes trying to keep up with relevant updates even more frustrating.
