VARBINARY data type update not working #1005

Used method:

$data = Array ('columname' => $_POST['form_columname'] );
$db->where('id', $var);
$db->update('table', $data);

There is no error message, but the table update doesn't happen, if i have VARBINARY type of column.

The get method works as expected.
