Dragging Map causes unexpected behavior

When I click to drag the map and move the mouse in small circles the map suddenly gets catapulted to a remote destination.

I just was trying to play with a friend for the first time and the whole thing was or appeared very broken. Since it was the first time I tried it there might be user errors involved.
