Tray and Menu Favorites icons wrong after 0.94.1 install ???

Description

I just updated my Arch Linux Cinnamon install to 0.94.1. The trilium flower icon had previously appeared everywhere. Now the system tray shows a generic icon left of the name, and the place where the Trilium icon previously appeared in the Menu Favorites column is now blank - but it still works, and shows text "TriliumNext" if I hover over it! I did drag it off the Favorites column and add it again, same blank space.

The extracted TriliumNext folder has the proper "icon.png" file, but even it uses the generic (Gnome?) icon for some of the files. Even for the main trilium app. I did delete some ancient versions from that build folder - maybe something was stuck on one of them?

I had quit Trilium before updating, but strangely when I tried to start the new version, it claimed the app was already running. I had to sudo kill several processes before I could restart it. Maybe I triggered something?

Also, once it was running, it did not automatically sync to my trilium.cc server, I had to click the Sync button. And the "Sync is in progress" message stuck on the screen and nothing would make it go away short of closing and restarting the app. Seems fine now...

I did reboot Linux and restart Trilium, made no difference.

Not a huge problem, but a bit uncomfortable...

Could any of these things be related?

There are known issues in 0.94.1 that match what you're seeing. For the syncing problem, it's often caused by a formatting issue in the server URL—make sure there are no trailing quotation marks or slashes in your sync server address. Removing them should let sync work normally again (source).

For the icon problem, there haven't been direct reports of missing tray or menu icons in 0.94.1, but changes in the Electron app's configuration or packaging could have affected how icons are referenced or bundled, especially on Linux. The app's icon assets are included from apps/desktop/src/assets, and the Electron Forge config manages how they're packaged. If the icon path or packaging changed, it could cause the generic or missing icon you see. This is likely a packaging or path issue in the desktop app's Electron config, not something caused by your local cleanup [(notes)].

If you want to try a workaround, you could check if the .desktop launcher file or the app's executable is pointing to the correct icon path, or try launching the app from the extracted folder directly. If you see the same issue, it's probably upstream in the app's packaging.

The "Sync is in progress" message sticking is also a known bug in 0.94.1, often related to the sync loop or URL formatting (source). Once the URL is fixed, this should resolve itself.
