Shared note dark mode text doesn't change

Description

When sharing a note, the regular text doesn't change when switching from light mode to dark mode. Headings and Index change text colors appropriately, but any body text underneath stays black.

This happens because the body text in shared notes inherits its color from the theme CSS, but if your note content contains inline styles (like color: #000), those override the dark mode color and keep the text black—even in dark mode. This often comes from CKEditor or pasted content. Headings and index text use separate CSS variables that update correctly with the theme, which is why they look fine.

There’s no built-in fix yet, but you can work around it by adding custom CSS to your shared note using the shareCss relation to force body text to use the theme color, for example:

.ck-content [style*="color: #000"] {
  color: var(--text-primary) !important;
}

This will override any inline black color styles and let the theme control the text color again. For more details on how theming works for shared notes, see the share-theme CSS and template logic.

I've checked and there isn't any inline color in my text. I went through and selected it all and removed any color to be sure.

The code provided by the bot does not work. The same error persists. I've provided a marked up screenshot. Something appears to be broken in the light/dark mode checkbox:

Until then you can use a ~shareCss with the following content:
