Clearance for controller or oled sockets #44
-
Hi @TweetyDaBird, I'm currently in the process of making a keyboard with your design. I wanted to use sockets for the controller and oled. Even with low profile sockets this seems impossible with the 10mm standoffs. Have you tried to build one with sockets and if so which ones did you used for the tight packaging? Greetings, |

Hello! Well, sockets for the OLED simply will not work, as even if you can make the spacers longer, the plate needs to stay at the same distance from the PCB to fit the switches. As for the controller, any ProMicro compatible one will fit very tightly under the plates using 10mm spacers using the sockets supplied with my kits (Lectronz store) and you can find the part number there to order it for yourself. (Beware of the MOQ though!) It's at night squeeze and the spacer probably should be 10.5mm or so in reality, but it works. However you need to solder both the OLED pins and the socket pins such that no leg sticks out and scrapes/shorts against the plates. |
