Links within UD treebanks to validator reports and current status of treebank

Looking at a page such as:

https://universaldependencies.org/treebanks/zh_gsdsimp/index.html

there's no link to the Validation report, at least not that I see:

https://quest.ms.mff.cuni.cz/udvalidator/cgi-bin/unidep/validation-report.pl?UD_Chinese-GSDSimp

and some kind of link or report of the soon-to-be-legacy status would also be useful:

https://quest.ms.mff.cuni.cz/udvalidator/cgi-bin/unidep/validation-report.pl

Well, those pages are generated from the master branch and correspond to the last official release. So the corresponding validity status would be either VALID or LEGACY. But it may be different from what the validation site says at the moment you click on the link (if the link to quest is provided).

That makes sense, but maybe a link that says it's the current dev status would help. It's actually rather difficult to find the validation page right now unless you know what you're looking for

The recommended way is the "How to contribute" page.

I still think it would be easier to find if linked from more places, like maybe the front page or the treebank pages

We have been recently trying to make the website easier to navigate. This is not to say that it cannot be further improved; the process will hopefully continue. One of the important factors in designing the website is that the readers can be divided to two main groups: contributors (providers) of the data, and (other) users of the data.

Every contributor is probably also a user, but there are users who are not contributors. There are many pages that you should absolutely read if you maintain a treebank, but you do not need to read it to understand the annotation as an ordinary user. So we concentrate the material for contributors in one zone. Validation definitely belongs there, but that is nothing a user needs to see in the first place (in fact, the users should stay away from the dev branches!)

As a maintainer of many treebanks, I also need to visit the validation page a lot. In my case it actually means that I have it open permanently in my browser. Adding a direct link from the title page (probably right below the "How to contribute to UD" link) was an option we briefly discussed in the core group and maybe we should think about it again. (Otherwise, the how to contribute has the link (that is two clicks from the homepage), and it has also two other subpages that explain validation in more detail, and, of course, link to the validation page as well.)
