The way I do it, is just download the sources and build locally. I can change limits in source code |

I'm fairly new to the game, and I've only been playing the campaign so far. I would say the the cap is a little lower than I want it, although I do like how it forces me to constantly clean up stray units. I can see utility in making it optional, but i can also mod the game, so I don't care about it that much. The 40 unit limit from the original game is insane. They must have been having issues with system resources I guess, but wow. Even with the 100-ish unit cap, it's pretty tough to maintain a well rounded force. Air units usually get the shaft, and consequently I don't even bother with them as much as I should. In practice it's not usually this well organized , but this is how my force is typically built out. team 1 "lefty" = 8 - 15 ish units -- A primary force typically divided into 2 teams. Optimized for punching out into enemy territory. --- This is where I start having issues, even after recycling stray units --- "Air - A/T - group 3" = 5 - 15 ish -- I find that 3 groups is a good number for maintaining a flight on station while the other 2 are transiting, and rearming TLDRI've typed more here than I should have, but it gives you an idea of where I'm at. basically, I would say that a 150 - 200 unit hard cap would be more useful to me, but I'm going to mod the game that I'm playing anyways, so I would opt to let the devs do what they want. |

I've played enough RTS games that have high unit/building caps (see: SupCom, especially modded SupCom) to find the hard cap on research facilities, factories, etc. quite irritating; I was wondering if perhaps this could instead be a soft cap locked behind a setting that can be configured during skirmish setup? I know I've looked up this idea before and found discussions dating to 2009-2014 about this, and the only solution given was to mod those settings higher - I've tried this and none of the unit and building limits are overridden, I can only ever build 5 research facilities, 8 power generators, etc.
I don't know if this is something that would be considered by the devs but I'd like to raise the potential to the community, and see if I'm not the only one who wants to see this feature.
