Niri crash, no current serial, commit on mapped surface without a configured serial

Niri crashes when I click on (Save/Save as) in the Preset Menu in MiniMeters. Both using the paid version and the demo. I get fully thrown out my session. When I login again, waybar does not launch and I have to logout and login again to fix all the weirdness.
MiniMeters is wayland native. The broken session after I login does not show anything weird in the logs, even if waybar does not start

Can you try this on another Smithay based compositor such as Cosmic or Anvil and then again on a non Smithay based compositor such as Sway or KDE.

Tested using Sway, and MiniMeters doesn't get as far (crash once I click on Presets, one step earlier) but sway doesn't crash. Not sure if I can test on Anvil, because I have not been able to compile it

You can try Cosmic instead of Anvil. Just need something Smithay based

actually nevermind, just tried running it on arch and was able to save/save as without issue.
maybe @sodiboo can help with this if its a Nix issue..? (sorry for ping)

I do run the AppImage through appimage-run and set LD_LIBRARY_PATH because it can't find some stuff otherwise, but that should be all the nix specific stuff I do. Gonna try some more things soon

The crash is this: Smithay/smithay#1717 But the underlying cause is a bug in the application.

Should I mark this as a duplicate then? I already reported this bug to MiniMeters too, so that's being worked on. But it would be nice if Niri didn't crash if an application is misbehaving
