instruments under 'bells' make funky noises at the top two octaves

The short answer: these instruments at these pitches reach the limits of the synthesizer.

It's the digital equivalent of a string on a guitar being tuned to tight it breaks. Since every sound is generated on the fly from pure signal data, to achieve various instruments layers of processing are added. This includes the ADSR envelope, detune and multiplier adjustments, some other knobs and sliders, as well as usage of multiple operators with their own base pulse, with various algorithms linking them together.

This is all math though. And at some point values get into the area where they don't make sense anymore, or precision and resolution available for us for computing cannot fit them anymore and something gets lost.

And there might be some actually fixable bugs in there. For now my goal with the synth was to port it as close as possible from the original Flash implementation. These distortions should sound exactly the same in the old version. If not, that's something I can look into.
