Adding an index of figures/tables in a document

I am employing your package to write my PhD in RMarkdown. I already used it successfully for some previous scientific papers. So thanks.

However, during the writing of my PhD, I would need to add a Table Index and a Figure Index, at the beginning or at the end of the document.

I've been seeking around with no success.

Is there any possibility to add an automatic index?
