I'm probably attempting to answer my own question but after some reading it suggests you can power two devices with different power requirements like a pro micro with 5v and the esp32 with 3.3v. I'm sure you could just power both devices with a usb splitter or hub. |

Could someone put me on the right track here, so I'm looking at what components I need for my 4 button midi controller it will be like pedalino 4 but with a Esp32 Doit dev kit 1 and an oled hopefully a 1.5" one plus I will need midi in and out 5 pin connectors and to use neopixal LEDs I would either power this via usb or more conveniently from a DC 9v power supply from a ciocs dc7. Just wondering if I need the buck DC converter for this and would the midi and neopixals be connected to 5v or the 3.3 ports of the board . Hopefully someone can put me right. |

Hi guys I'm very interested in this project and considering making my own midi foot switch to control a tonex
I've noticed in some builds that have grim what I can see a LM2596 DC-DC Switching Adjustable Step-down power Supply module
Just wondering what this is used for as I've not seen them on every build.
With my build I can either power it via usb or a 9v from a ciocs dc9 power distribution which would supply isolated power to all the effects pedals .
Thanks
