Support external_content

The search API includes links to external sites, such as police.gov.uk. These are created as documents in the Publishing API database, with schema_name and document_type both "external_content". They only have a title, a description, a URL to link to, and hidden search terms.

What would the GovSearch result link to? Perhaps to the Search API, filtering by link, which would have to be URL-encoded. Filtering by title doesn't work. There isn't a way to guarantee a single, exact match.
