Description

When launching SteamVR in any way, in the add-ons menu there 's only "Gamepad Support", but no "alvr_server". Tried installing it via AUR and standalone, nothing changes

General Troubleshooting

  • I carefully followed the instructions in the README and successfully completed the setup wizard
  • I read the ALVR GitHub Wiki

Environment

Hardware

https://linux-hardware.org/?probe=3cfb0d0974

CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-10400F CPU @ 2.90GHz

GPU: GeForce GTX 1660 Ti

GPU Driver Version: nvidia 565.57.01-2

Audio: pipewire 1:1.2.6-1

Installation

ALVR Version: Latest (alvr 20.11.1-1)

ALVR Settings File:
Couldn't find the file, but the only 3 settings I changed are:

  • Preferred framerate: 90Hz
  • Encoder preset: Balanced
  • Stream protocol: TCP

SteamVR Version: 2.8.6

Install Type:

  • *.tar.gz from releases
  • AUR package

I tried both, none worked

OS Name and Version: Arch Linux (linux 6.11.6.arch1-1)

Might be important: I'm on Hyprland WM 0.44.0, Wayland

Are you actually launching SteamVR through the alvr dashboard? Also you need to currently always apply the first entry on the linux troubleshooting wiki page. You'll likely also need the wayland fix
