Users have disappeared from wg0.conf

If you open the wg0.conf file, there are only 2 peers in it. And if you run the wg show command, there are more than 20 of them. I didn't go into the VM settings. What could be the problem? I'm thinking about restarting it or not.
I wanted to delete the configuration of a previously added user and found this problem.

Probably, peers were added using wg set or similar commands, which modify the live WireGuard interface but do not update wg0.conf which is shown by wg show.
