Do you mean just linking the Apollo iOS dependency into your package file or after actually installing the plugin?

I'm just reading through that now too and I don't think it's accurate anymore. I believe it is only cocoapods that will automatically install the CLI.

The CLI installer is an SPM plugin.

Run this command in a terminal from the directory of your project - swift package --allow-writing-to-package-directory apollo-cli-install. You will need to allow the network connection because it downloads the CLI binary from GitHub.

OK I got confused its the next install option I should have looked at - the Xcode one.

I wrongly assumed the SPM was SPM with Xcode but it's not !! pays to RTFM!!

The Apollo iOS SPM package includes the Codegen CLI as an executable target. This ensures you always have a valid CLI version for your Apollo iOS version.To simplify accessing the Codegen CLI, you can run the included InstallCLI SPM plugin.This plugin builds the CLI and creates a symbolic link to the executable in your project root.If you use Swift packages through Xcode, you can right-click on your project in the Xcode file explorer, revealing an Install CLI plugin command. Selecting this command presents a dialog allowing you to grant the plugin "write" access to your project directory.

Nope, spoke too soon - !?? The instructions I am following seem to be missing a few steps or something because not it can't find

Sounds like you first need to create a configuration file with the apollo-ios-cli init ... command - docs. After that and once you've got the schema + operations then use the apollo-ios-cli generate command.

Yes - no mention of needing to do any of that one the site I have been referring to. I guess I'll just read the official docs.

And then of course the subtle difference between *.graphqls and *.graphql files !!

Getting there slowly - it doesn't like the syntax I am using for queries not !
