I'm kinda disappointed that you cant define secretKeyRef under workflowspec.arguments.parameters

SecretKeyRef is only for EnvVars. It would not be possible to assign directly from a parameter (in Argo YAML, so it's not to do with Hera itself).

In Hera you can use the SecretEnv and pass the key/name from input parameters:

env=[
    SecretEnv(
        name="MYSECRETPASSWORD",
        secret_key="{{inputs.parameters.key}}",
        secret_name="{{inputs.parameters.name}}",
