Improve native file dialog for Linux

As we are going to use zenity for the native file dialog, it would be nice to implement some issues for zenity like:

Hi, what are your thoughts on using the XDG Desktop Portal for the native file dialog?
This could resolve a lot of issues related to file selection aseprite/aseprite#5073 or aseprite/aseprite#4648
and future-proof it for other desktop environments to come.

Would you be interested in an implementation based on libportal, i never really worked with c++ but I would love to give it a shot

If we can find a MIT licensed library that implements the FileChooser communication, that would be great. But at the moment I didn't find one, and I'm not sure how extended this Desktop Portal between Linux distros is.

Sadly, me neither, would dynamically linking be a valid solution to the licensing issue? Or is this something you don't want to deal with?

I believe it should be pretty widely distributed since it's one of the base technologies behind flatpacks

But I guess I will keep looking for a better library

I have a couple of questions:

1. Does this require a D-Bus client impl? In that case, probably a D-Bus library could be the solution ( we could just implement the FileChoose part only).
2. Why is this related to flatpacks? We don't distribute Aseprite as a flatpack (just like an AppImage), does portals work with native apps/AppImage apps?

1. yes, it does. sadly, I wasn't able to find a MIT D-Bus library either.
   I only found sdbusplus which is Apache-2.0

2. The standard was designed by Flatpak since they need it for sandboxing. But every application can use it. see for more info
