Release Checklist

Code Changes

• Update code files with version number
• Tag dependency repos and update gemfile (SME)
• Merge develop into staging
• Merge develop into staging to get new Ramp release tag
• Merge staging into main

Application Testing

• Testing (after merge to staging)

Documentation

• Update wiki with release notes (once the release is published on Github)
• Create and Write Upgrade Page (7.7 -> 7.7.1)

Release and Documentation

• Write a draft of release notes on Github
• Publish release in Github (create tag as well, if the release is not already tagged) https://github.com/avalonmediasystem/avalon/releases
• put link in release notes to Github-provided changelog (i.e. v.7.7...v7.7.1)
• Build and push updated docker images (may already happen via bamboo CI process)
• Update avalon-docker to point at new release docker tag and github tag
• Rebuild develop from main (our git flow)
• Deploy release to demo.avalonmediasystem.org

Website and Outreach

• Announcements will come with 7.7.2

Charu's summary issues found during release testing:

• Chrome - Caption files in the .srt format is not showing up inside the media player.
  • SRT Captions Do Not Appear in Media Player #5765
• iOS - Safari - Unable to turn on captions from the native player
  • Unusual Behavior For Captions in iOS Native Player samvera-labs/ramp#473
• iOS - Safari - A new option called "CC" is being displayed inside the subtitle list in the native player, which shows up as the selected caption inside the native player, irrespective of the caption selected in the media object page
  • Nonfunctional "CC" Option Appears in iOS Native Player samvera-labs/ramp#472
• Timeline page UI is breaking in iOS Safari (Not sure if this was caught in 7.7, since I am able to replicate this in MCO staging)
  • Known Issue, [BUG] Timeliner buttons overlap in Safari on iOS IUBLibTech/timeliner#59

The bug with SRT caption files not appearing is critical to fix for 7.7.1; the three others are non-critical.
