Description
Currently, in order to search for an entry, you have to tap the Search button at the top of the screen, at which point the keyboard will slide open from the bottom of the screen. This large jump is tiring, especially for large devices.
I am aware that there is a setting to automatically open the Search function when the app is opened, but I don't really like this as it cuts down the top visible list of entries by half, and I don't always want to search immediately.
There has been a previous suggestion to move to a bottom-bar design layout but that was closed as not conforming to material design specs (#1317 (comment)).
I think a better solution would be to move the Search function to a dedicated floating action button (FAB), replacing the existing Add New Entry FAB as the primary action. The Add New Entry FAB can remain as a FAB and be positioned above the Search FAB as a secondary action.
This would be a more comfortable position to initiate the search from and the concept of multiple FABs are used in other apps, e.g. Google Maps:
