Becoming a maintainer #2317

Hello @bids-standard/maintainers,
As described in the collaboration page, I am creating this issue to offer my help as a BIDS maintainer. I have put a lot of effort in (trying to) "BIDSifying" my datasets and in doing so I started enjoying reading and thinking about the different ways data can be structured, and soon enough I was reading about the different BEPs and Issues raised here on Github. I believe BIDS to be one of the most important initiatives in neuroimaging, and I would love to contribute in whatever way is needed to this project.
One personal motivation for contributing to BIDS was the need to synchronize different streams in multimodal datasets, which requires understanding of the structure of different data types. I believe there is still a need to facilitate stream synchronization in these cases. I often use the bids-matlab tools and I believe it can also be updated.
