I have a pending update to version 4.3.14-gplay in the Google Play Store, which I unfortunately cannot install. I already had this problem with the previous release and had hoped that it would fix itself. What can I do? Reinstall?

Sounds like you have installed a version with another signature, like from Github or F-Droid. Then you can only update with APKs from the same source (Github or F-Droid). That's how Android works. If you want to switch to another version (like Google Play), you have to uninstall it first.
