Checklist

I have updated to the latest available Frigate version.
I have cleared the cache of my browser.
I have tried a different browser to see if it is related to my browser.
I have tried reproducing the issue in incognito mode to rule out problems with any third party extensions or plugins I have installed.

Describe the problem you are having

Hi - I'm seeing an extreme memory leak. The Frigate docker container starts using 9GB of RAM, then adds another 1GB every hour or so, so the next day its at 33GB. The machine has 96GB but it doesn't take that long before the container hits over 50GB and has to be restarted.

I do have rather a lot of cameras - 24 - but coral TPU utilisation, GPU utilisation, CPU utilisation and disk space are all low.

there is nothing in the logs showing a problem

note that one of the cameras is down at the moment, visible in the logfiles.

It would be good to see an htop or top output from the camera so we can see what is actually using the memory

You've also commented out the tmpfs which is highly discouraged

I thought tmpfs wasn't needed when you had plenty of RAM? Is that a mistake?

/tmp/cache: Cache location for recording segments. Initial recordings are written here before being checked and converted to mp4 and moved to the recordings folder. Segments generated via the clip.mp4 endpoints are also concatenated and processed here. It is recommended to use a tmpfs mount for this.

thanks - I'll add a 5GB tmpfs and report back if that changes anything. I've also disabled birdseye (since I don't use it)

I also have an issue with the memory usage. It started after updating from beta to the latest RC.

As you can see, in my case, it's mostly because of the embeddings_manager. I have 4 cameras. Ony one of them points to a street. The others see little activity, maybe just some trees moving.
Currently, I am using the frigate:0.16.0-rc4-tensorrt-jp6 Docker image, which is running on a Jetson Orin Nano. In beta I don't think this issue was happening.

I've established it's linked to cameras disconnecting/reconnecting. When that happens (e.g. temporary network outage) then memory utilisation balloons.

Jup, I got the same issue. Some (of my just four) camera's drop their connection for a short while.
I just moved the frigate docker to a system where it can use 8gb in stead of 4gb. let's see if that helps.
