Can't get any License Plate automation to trigger

I've tried a dozen variations with assistance from ChatGPT and the AI on the website, I cannot get a trigger for license plates. Initially I was trying for a specific plate, but after a dozen attempts on this I switched to trying to get any plate to trigger.

This was confirmed by both Frigate AI and Chatgpt AI to be completely in line with the documentation, but it doesn't work:-

Thank you for your support, unfortunately I don't know how to use that to solve the issue (I tried to get ChatGPT to do it too, unsuccessfully).

I have this working on another camera, but when I try to apply it to detect license plates it doesn't work:

conditions:

  and trigger.payload_json.after.camera == 'Entrance' }}

Edit: I should clarify, when I say doesn't work, I mean I/chatgpt/website's ai can't do it.

Just create an automation and paste in the YAML that I posted there. You'll need to update the name of the sensor and change the actions for your specific setup.

Your solution is too complicated, the solution shared above uses the built in last_recognized_lpr sensor. It is ready to be pasted as is, there is nothing for you to solve

If you don't see the sensor be sure to reload the integration

Ah! It just clicked, the camera itself has a "sensor" as part of the Homeassistant integration!
