Deprecated backfill optionality

Hi, While going through previous releases of Cryptostore, I noticed the backfill plugin isn't there anymore. Was wondering, what was the reason for its removal? It seemed like a really useful feature. Do you perhaps have any suggestions on how to approach backfilling now?
