Since it's a bit unclear how to workaround this problem, here is the temporary solution for anyone who encounters it.

1. Create a file with appmanifest type in Defold Editor.
2. Specify it in game.project under the Native Extension section.
3. Open this appmanifest file in Defold Editor and find the Graphics Osx field in the Outline pane.
4. Set OpenGL instead of Vulcan.
