Problem you would like to solve

As a Camunda 8 user I'm working with the web modeler for synchronization with low-code stakeholders in my organization. At the same time I'm using the Desktop Modeler to build process applications.

The web modeler (SaaS and potentially self-managed in the future) currently offers many assets relevant to me as a desktop modeler user:

  • Which engines are available to me
  • Which connector templates can I use
  • Assets defined in web modeler projects that may or may not constitute process applications

Proposed solution

As a Camunda 8 user I want to connect to C8 SaaS, seemlessly integrating into the web modeler:

  • Sync diagrams from and to the web modeler, carry with them the relevant project context (including linked element templates)
    • Pull changes into my process application development environment
    • Push local changes back up
    • Get notified on remote changes
  • Get a simple way to configure C8 SaaS connections (pre-populated, potentially)

Alternatives considered

Keep the brain split between web and desktop modeler, use GitHub flow to push changes to local development environment.

Additional context

Came up a couple of times in various discussions, last here. A number of C7 users asked for it when trialing C8 (Web Modeler).

We have the Cloud connect plug-in that accomplishes a similar thing, but very basic for C7 / Cawemo.
