As a Camunda 8 user I'm working with the web modeler for synchronization with low-code stakeholders in my organization. At the same time I'm using the Desktop Modeler to build process applications.
The web modeler (SaaS and potentially self-managed in the future) currently offers many assets relevant to me as a desktop modeler user:
Which engines are available to me
Which connector templates can I use
Assets defined in web modeler projects that may or may not constitute process applications
Proposed solution
As a Camunda 8 user I want to connect to C8 SaaS, seemlessly integrating into the web modeler:
Sync diagrams from and to the web modeler, carry with them the relevant project context (including linked element templates)
Pull changes into my process application development environment
Push local changes back up
Get notified on remote changes
Get a simple way to configure C8 SaaS connections (pre-populated, potentially)
Alternatives considered
Keep the brain split between web and desktop modeler, use GitHub flow to push changes to local development environment.
Additional context
Came up a couple of times in various discussions, last here. A number of C7 users asked for it when trialing C8 (Web Modeler).
We have the Cloud connect plug-in that accomplishes a similar thing, but very basic for C7 / Cawemo.
