For Phase 3, it should be possible for users to post and comment on posts in instances which are not their own when using the Nearby feed. This may require a vast rewrite using ActivityPub.
No due dateFor phase 2, instances should be able to display posts from any other instance when using the Nearby feed. This will require use of gossip protocol to share a list of all instances. Care will need to be taken to ensure that the list cannot be polluted with nefarious instances which attempt to spam content on all instances be falsifying their location to be near to any instance which calls it.
No due dateFor phase 1, the focus is on the ability to post to local instances only. No ability to call other instances or collect data from other instances will be written during this phase.
