Can this program be used to protect against MITM attacks? Does it have features for analyzing fake WiFi networks in public places? It would be great to expand the program's functionality if it doesn't already have this feature.

That protection against TLS MiTM comes from the browsers / apps (and to an extent the OS) itself. Rethink has no say in that, and in fact, (unlike a more feature-rich app like AdGuard for Android can) Rethink doesn't muck with TLS other than for anti-censorship purposes (which doesn't involve MiTM, fortunately).
