General state of the cjio library

Hi cityjson-community!

Not sure whether this is the right place to ask this question or to directly ask in the cjio-repository:

I noticed that the last commit to cjio happened in September 2023 and I was wondering about the general state of the library, i.e. is it still actively maintained, are any new features planned, etc.?

More specifically, I am working on texturizing cityjson files, and I managed to get this to work with the help of cjio but I had to do some manual adjustments, e.g. manually add a dictionary to citymodel.j["appearance"] before saving the textured model.While I was scanning the code it seemed that especially for textures some functions/features are not fully supported but I also noticed some other TODOs in the code.

Due to these findings and the long time since the last commit, I'd like to get an estimate on how much trust I can put into the library in general or into specific functions that it provides.

cjio is definitely not forgotten, although it did not receive much attention in the past year(s). We still have plans on fixing current issue, refactoring some parts and maybe extend or change other parts. However, when will this happen, that is a bit of an open question. As far as I know @GinaStavropoulou is working on it currently, and maybe @hugoledoux can tell more.

Branch master didn't receive much love, but develop did... I suggest you use this. @GinaStavropoulou is working on it since this week, so no worries it'll not become a dead software.

That being said, if you want to help us with the textures it's very much welcome. Fork develop and we will happily accept PR.

I plan to make a new release next week with the work that we have on develop and the to start working on the reported issues.
