no .gitignore file with quickstart templates, and no way to create project in curent folder

New to spacetimedb but am I missing something or why there is no .gitignore file?
I created repository -> cloned it -> "spacetime dev --template nextjs-ts" -> copy all files back to root folder -> node modules and other things are in the diff
