Clicking Options in CodeMaid Visual Studio 2017 menu produces following error: Provide value on 'System.Windows.Markup.StaticExtension' threw and exception

• Visual Studio version: 2017 Professional
• CodeMaid version: 10.4
• Code language: C#
• OS: Windows 7 Professional

Description

When I click on CodeMaid -> Options menu item in visual studio I get an error:
Provide value on 'System.Windows.Markup.StaticExtension' threw and exception.

The options page does not show and Visual Studio becomes mainly unresponsive.

Steps to recreate

1. Click on CodeMaid -> Options menu item in visual studio.

Current behavior

No options dialog being shown and visual studio becomes unresponsive.

Expected behavior

Options dialog should show normally.

Strange, I'm unable to reproduce it. Can you provide some more information about your environment (e.g. locale/language, other extensions)?

Locale: English (UK)
Other extensions: Atomineer v9.39.7.2365, ReSharper Pro 2017.3.1 (v15.5.27130.2036), DeveExpress v17.2.5.
I've got a work around to changing the settings in that I have just copied my colleagues config file into my appdata location so that the settings are used and I can now use CodeMaid with our company settings but it's strange I just can't see the options page.

That is very strange. We certainly have other UK users. If you're in a company environment, are other users in your company seeing the issue too?

There are around 10 Visual Studio C# developers who have a similar setup but no one is getting this issue. I think I may be the only person on Windows 7 however a colleague has a Mac running Windows 7 and he doesn't get this issue there. It may not be the same company setup though.

Thanks for chiming in as well. Do either of you know what version of the .NET Framework you have installed? .NET Framework 4.6 is needed

Glad I'm not the only one! I'm using .NET Framework 4.7.1.

@codecadwallader My system has Windows 7 and Visual Studio 2015 Update 3. Clicking options crashes that too. Also .NET framework 4.6 is installed.

@codecadwallader Me too, on Windows7 64bit, VS2017 Pro (latest 15.6.5, and previous), CodeMaid 10.4.53, .
.net 4.6, 4.7, 4.7.1 is installed and using 4.7.1 usually.
I don't know when it happens, but it works some monthes ago at least.
I tried re-install of CodeMaid some times with/withoiut deleting
AppData/locl/CodeMaid/CodeMaid.config and extension folders,
but no change.

Anyone who can consistently reproduce the issue.. if you could debug CodeMaid locally (see http://www.codemaid.net/contribute/ for getting started info) I think that could be really useful for getting a call stack when the error occurs!
