.
Did this crash occur after that fix was applied?

It is still happening on both mici and tizi.

For mici, it happened last on commit 8de89463741b648f7cd2a625b0e688005168388e (includes your mici specific fix)

commaai/msgq#658 is the Cython-side fix that ensures VisionBuf objects are safely managed and prevents use-after-free when accessed from Python.
