@Sportarr which files are essential to be preserved while updating the app?

I'm going to make it work like:

1. Backup all configuration/environment/database
2. rm -rf the app directory
3. Do a clean install
4. Restore backed up files

Hi @tremor021, thanks for looking into this! Here's the information about files that need to be preserved during updates:

Essential Files (MUST preserve)

File	Description
config.xml	Main configuration file (API key, authentication, timezone, all settings)
sportarr.db	SQLite database (leagues, events, indexers, download clients, etc.)
sportarr.db-wal	SQLite Write-Ahead Log (if exists)
sportarr.db-shm	SQLite shared memory file (if exists)

Optional Directories (user data)

Directory	Description
Backups/	User-created backups (configurable location)
logs/	Application logs
agents/	Plex/Jellyfin metadata agent files

Recommended Update Approach

1. Stop Sportarr
2. Back up the entire data directory (or at minimum: config.xml, sportarr.db*)
3. Replace application binaries
4. Start Sportarr (database migrations run automatically on startup)

Installation Requirements

• .NET 8 Runtime (or use self-contained builds from releases)
• FFmpeg (optional, for IPTV DVR recording feature)
• Port 1867 (default web UI)

Self-contained releases are available for Linux x64/ARM64 on the releases page - these include the .NET runtime, so no separate .NET installation is needed.

Data Directory Location

The data directory defaults to ./data relative to the executable. You can specify a custom location using:

./Sportarr -data /opt/sportarr/config

Yes, we gonna deploy the prebuild release tarball, like Sportarr-linux-x64-4.0.873.941.tar.gz.

I see the release tarball has no preset configuration so its safe to just extract new release directly into the app directory, overwriting existing files.

It will be up to user to take care of backups via app GUI.
