Right now my best theory was that this was somehow related to SELinux and vsock (see #190 especially #190 (comment) ) but nothing much changed here recently and not too much changed in Fedora.

I have a strong preference not to disable selinux (or set it to permissive) in the testcase. The examples which install selinux-policy and run with it enabled are the only thing keeping our labelling code under real-world testing...
