There is an issue for this #243 and apparently someone already made a pull request #195 for it that should enable support for plugins like DeDRM, I am waiting to see how it works once it's merged |

I'm building a self-hosted server to manage and stream e-books/manga (in a word, Sonarr/Radarr + Jellyfin for books). While Calibre is ideal for metadata scraping (via its vast plugin ecosystem,eg. from Amazon to NSFW galleries), it lacks native headless/server-friendly support. Existing server-focused alternatives (CW, CWA, Kavita, etc.) either lack metadata automation or cannot match Calibre's plugin flexibility. Could CWA integrate support for Calibre plugins? This would bridge the gap between Calibre's unmatched metadata capabilities and modern headless server architectures.
Furthermore, in media server stacks (e.g., Sonarr/Radarr + qBittorrent + Jellyfin), the *arr app automatically generates Jellyfin-compliant directory structures (e.g.,
Show Name/Season 01/S01E01.mkv
) and use hardlinks to enable "one-file-serves-both-seeding-and-streaming." Readarr (GitHub), positioned as the e-book counterpart to *arr tools, claims that it works with Calibre in its wiki. Is there a roadmap for CWA to implement such automation (particularly hardlinks and directory templating) by deepen integration with Readarr?Beta Was this translation helpful? Give feedback.
