Agent Enrichment

@mkllnk from OFN has raised some queries around the functionality within Agent. This area of the ontology seems a bit sparse to me at present, so hoping we can agree to enrich it and meet their requirements.

Detailed requests:

1. We have lots of text fields: description, long description, contact name, phone, website, facebook, instagram.... pickup times, distributor info.... I wonder if there's already a generic way to store additional information or if there's a standardised way to store all kinds of contacts, socials etc.

• We’ve discussed socials previously, I’ll check that as I can’t recall what was agreed. @Alcoz - can you recall?
• Would some sort of generic extensibility (for pickup times, distributor info) be useful? If so how would we implement?

2. OFN enterprises have logo and promo image which is platform specific but some kind of graphical brand identity is very common on all platforms.

• Can we add some image support for Enterprise? And maybe Person too (profile pics etc)? So maybe its Agent?

3. OFN uses a field charges_sales_tax which denotes a VAT Registered business.

• I think this is already included in the Ontology, is that correct @Alcoz ?

4. OFN uses business logic from flags allow_guest_orders and require_login can we replicate this functionality? At Enterprise level or SalesSession?

• require_login means that you can't even see the shop front unless you are logged in. This might sit better at Catalog or SalesSession?
• allow_guest_checkout only affects the options during checkout - a Customer must have an account on the Platform to checkout/complete purchases. This seems quite platform specific.

5. OFN uses a flag allow_order_changes to determine if customers can amend their order after completion (but before SalesSession ends). This would probably be better dealt with through Order Status #76 .

6. OFN also has certain permissions around integration of suppliers into the hub storefront - whether they can see customer names, and if they (a separete Enterpirise) can add Products to the Hub Storefront.

• These seem complex and quite platform specific. Let's discuss, but I'm leaning towards leaving them out for now.

Looking at 1. I think some of that is already covered... we have hasMainContact to link a person to an Enterprise.
Agent hasAddress and hasPhoneNumber (at least in v1.9).

Almost missed the original requirement for Enterprise Groups

Proposal to create a self-referencing relationship for Agent isAffiliated/hasAffiliate to allow heirarchies of Agents (Enterprises or Persons) to be created.

There is an issue - in that this would create the ability for an Enterprise to be affiliated to a Person. This is not deemed to be a valid scenario.

The counter proposal is to create 2 isAffiliated/hasAffiliate links: Enterprise>Enterprise, and (the existing) Enterprise>Person link. This prevents the mentioned scenario.

5. We have to write somewhere in the standard that an order can be amended until the sale session is completed. The status of the order can stay unchanged like "completed" but people can still make changes to the order.

7. OFN has flags to distinguish Producers and Hubs (an Enterprise can be both, but must be at least one).

@Alcoz Could we add 2 flags (boolean) to Enterprise to indicate if it's a Hub or Producer ?

Why do you need to distinguish the two? Maybe there is an other way to do this without a flag?

Otherwise other idea: create a new taxonomy for Agent like AgentType.

4. require_login is an authentication/access issue. This is managed (within the standard) by the OIDC access layer - an authenticated user can only see the Products/Orders/Offers etc... that they are authorised to see. We will therefore not capture this within the ontology.

Had a good discussion with the OFN devs this morning. Thanks @mkllnk & @rioug !

We think things are mostly ok for OFN for now... we do need the SocialMedia class to be implemented (so that we can abuse it to hold storefront URL's for Enterprises 😜 ). @Alcoz - do you know what version that will be in? I can see it in the diagram, but not in the OWL files. 😕

Also, we were expecting Enterprise (or perhaps Agent) to have both a Name attribute and a Description attribute. OFN has a short & and long description (which could be encoded into a single text field if necessary) and I suspect other platforms will have similar data requirements.

Another option would to have a normalised structure, similar to SocialMedia, where we can allow platforms to create multiple, generic, text fields for Agents/Enterprises. This might lead to more confusion/duplication of data though. 🤔 @Alcoz @lecoqlibre what are your thoughts?

Yeah sure, doing a normalized structure would be good but if we don't define which description is about all platforms won't be able to understand how to display that information.

I can see two options:
Option 1: normalized structure + taxonomy (short description, long description, other)
Option 2: several fields in the ontology (dfc-b:description, dfc-b:shortDescription...)

Some of them are covered by contact and social media and others are more platform specific like the invoice_text. But the question is how generic the remaining fields are and what we want to support.

The other alternative is to put all these fields into one description. We use HTML in lots of these fields anyway and could format it in a way that it's user-friendly to understand these different text fields but technically it's only one.

Note that in semantics we should definitely avoid to encode multiple information in one same field.

Good question. For example, in a list of producer there's the short description for each enterprise and then when you click on the enterprise you get a bigger modal with the long description.
