It is probably too late, but have you considered enforcing a naming convention on services with arguments, as in systemd https://www.freedesktop.org/software/systemd/man/latest/systemd.unit.html#Description: "A template unit must have a single "@" at the end of the unit name prefix"? IMO currently it is rather inconvenient to find out if a service needs an argument. @q66
