Possible to change rich-text parameters?

This is such a minor nit, but when you edit an existing file using the Rich Text editor (based on something imported from elsewhere) it changes the bulleted list markdown from dashes to asterisks. Is there a way to prevent this through configuration? Not only do I find it aesthetically annoying, it pollutes my diffs with changes that I did not want to make.

There is no such config option. I agree, this can be annoying for diff tracking. There have been discussions about this in the past, but nothing has been done.
