Fakeudev issues?

I'm considering enabling the fakeudev module by default when systemd is detected as an init.

I think this option should be relatively safe, but I'm leaving this issue open in case anyone can tell me otherwise or has issues.

Please let me know if you know something about this which I'm missing.

All the fakeudev module does is write E:DM_UDEV_PRIMARY_SOURCE_FLAG=1\n to the db file for device mapper devices.

hey ive already got issues about fakeudev ive enabled it before and my system didnt boot now it being automatically enabled makes me have to use fallback linux and i cant do anything about it in the config.toml

I'm not seeing your discord message, what is your username?

I can add a toggle to make it so this will never run, or you can add a mask for that init function.

Can you describe how it failed with that? it simply writes to a few files which udev may later read, and in testing I found that failing to do this made system stall and not mount subsequent mounts.

the autodetection will load the module, but the functions should be able to be masked, I may have broken that in an update

This should fix masks not working, you can use them like this:

masks.init_mount = "fake_dm_udev"
