Combine a release and a kernel of choice

Hi everyone.

Would it be possible to install older release with 24.04 lts version. Update everything on it via apt update, and then only install the newest kernel?
I'd like to use the lts release and only occasionally update the kernel. Also, I would like to avoid being forced to do an upgrade of the release due to the short life of non-lts releases.
