@TatsatJha I hear from Julia that you'll already working on something in this direction. Interested to know how you're approaching and would love to see what you come up with (interested in seeing the PR, although can't promise very quick turnaround).

I have been wondering about treating the Zotero API as a Hugo remote data source:

I think you could make all the same calls you had in the bash script to access data, and Hugo should cache the data for you. I don't know if the caching would be enough to avoid hitting the API too frequently — seems like it should be possible. I wonder if you can add the cached data to version control when you don't expect it to change (and manually clear to update when needed), but I don't know enough about how Hugo caching works - would have to test if a locally cached data source can be used by a build on GitHub Pages.

@rlskoeser It seems my idea has led to nowhere. I was hoping I would be able to run Go as part of the module without adding another dependency but I don't think this is feasible after looking into how Go modules work. So essentially we would either have a python or a go dependency, so I'm wondering how you think we should proceed?

Also to your point about using the remote-resources, I recall trying to make these work at the start of the year but not being able to and resorting to a script that fetches from the api. I could look into these again if you think there's a way of a making them work

@TatsatJha do you still have the code anywhere from your earlier attempt at accessing the api as a remote resource? Either way, I could try to experiment a little if that would be helpful.

If our ideas don't get anywhere, we should ask on the hugo forums about recommended approaches for what we're trying to do, I've gotten good help there in the past.

I think my main strategy was trying to run the following two lines at the beginning of the main bibliography short code
