How to configure more than just one button for my gamepad?

I have an Xbox 360 compatible gamepad. In Flashback (in-game), I've chosen a two-button controller. But they both do the same thing.

For example, on real hardware, Megadrive gamepad works. How do I get the second button to work on vAmiga?

In Preferences -> Devices I see that the two buttons are recognised separately:

a:b0,
b:b1,

Edit: Similarly, I'd like to be able to map the space bar to one of the buttons when playing Turrican II so I don't need the keyboard in addition to the gamepad.

Upvote! I have pretty much the exact question except for the ps4 controller. For Turrican 2 I'd like to use 'X' for jump instead of pushing up on the dpad or thumbstick. And mapping the space bar special move to controller button also. I can see that dpup is h.01 but when I try just changing a:b1 to a:h0.1 it doesnt work. I noticed also that if the controller is in Game 1 port it doesn work so it has to be in Game port 2.
