PS5 DualSense controller doesn't work.

I can't get a PS5 DualSense controller to work in neither vAmiga nor Virtual C64. It seems to be recognised, but none of the inputs work.

Can you verify whether the HID events match the database description? When you use the gamepad, the incoming HID event will appear above the large gamepad image in the preferences window. Any triggered joystick events will be shown below the image. If nothing is displayed, it means that, for some reason, the device does not deliver any HID events that the emulator understands.

There's nothing displayed at all. The controller works fine with RetroArch, PCSX2 and pretty much everything else I've tested it with so far.

Hi,
I also have a PS5 DualSense Controller and it works fine. I tested with version 4.3.2 of vAmiga via bluetooh which appears to be how you are connecting too.

@dirkwhoffmann As I mentioned I looked at the code around controllers and I remember seeing in your code specific logic to handle these values for dpdown, dpup, dpright, and dpleft so it should work fine for this controller. Did the pseudo code I included in the last message of my issue make sense? Basically you look for whatever the file defines for a controller for dpleft, dpright, ... and match that to the event coming in. The idea is you wouldn't have to code for every different that a dpleft, dpright, can possibly be.

Hi Ben, thanks for that. Apparently, plot thickens. May I ask about the model number of your controller, since there are four versions (or generations)? Mine is CFI-ZCT1W, which, apparently, is the first generation.

Sure, same model as yours. Does it work in preferences? You should see things like "pull down", "pull up" under the picture of the controller. The issue he recently fixed for me I could see the controller working in preferences but not in vAmiga itself. take it you choose your controller from the drop down menu in the of the vAmiga toolbar?

Yes, that's the problem. I can select the controller from the menu and I see it in the preferences, but vAmiga doesn't register any input from it, neither in the preferences nor in the actual games. I have just re-tested it with the recent 4.4b2.

Hmm, very strange I can see from your pic of your prefers it has detected the controller, and I can see in the white box next to the controller pic the mapping look good eg. dpleft:h0.8, etc (everything the same as mine). You could try making sure your controller firmware is the latest. If you have a windows pc you can get a program off the Sony site to flash the latest firmware for the controller and see if that helps?

Do you have any other apps / games / emulators that the uses the ps5 controller on the mac? Is it working?

Yes, the weirdest thing is that the controller works everywhere else (Steam, RetroArch, FS-UAE, PCSX2, Cyberpunk 2077). I have trouble only with vAmiga and Virtual C64.

Also, I don't have a PC to flash the firmware.

Maybe long term solution is to let people configure their own controllers? Like redefining keys in good old zx spectrum days. Incidentally this what the Mister FPGA does.

@kyods I just had a thought, I am running on an Intel Macbook and you are probably running on Apple Silicon. so we won't be running the same code in the MacOS. This shouldn't make a difference but it is the only thing I can think of that would make same controller behave differently.
