Installing GDAL in blender 3.1

Hello, has anyone had any luck installing GDAL lately?. The guide still uses 2.7 as an example, so it could be a bit outdated?.

I´m using blender 3.1.2 portable version on windows 10. Followed the guide and in the end I´m getting error 5 but there´s no info on where to go from there. Trying to import a base map in a projection other than mercator results in CTD.

I´m wondering if it has anything to do with the fact that i´m using a portable instalation of blender, or is there something new that has to be done when setting up the enviroment variable.
