change Carthage/Checkouts/NightNight/Example/Podfile to

platform :ios, '8.0' 

use_frameworks!

target 'NightNight_Example' do
  pod 'NightNight' 
end

and use cmd
pod update
then Example Project is ok to build for Carthage
